Independence Blue Cross promotes Emily Zitser to senior vice president and deputy general counsel

Independence Blue Cross (Independence) announced the promotion of Emily Zitser to senior vice president and deputy general counsel.

Since joining Independence in 1996, Ms. Zitser has led numerous strategic initiatives on behalf of the organization and offered valuable legal insight for negotiations with health care providers. She played a key role in the creation and evolution of Tandigm Health, a physician network that helps primary care physicians and specialists provide higher quality, more coordinated care.

In her new role, she will oversee the Health Services Practice Group, which includes the Corporate Practice Group. She will continue to support matters related to provider networks and contracting, member appeals, pharmacy, lab, procurement, and more.

Ms. Zitser serves as assistant secretary of Vista Health Plan, Inc. She was secretary of the Board of Riverbend Environmental Education Center for nearly 10 years and has also provided pro bono legal work for Philadelphia VIP, which offers legal services to low-income residents and families.

She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University School of Law.
