Independence Blue Cross (IBX) President and CEO Gregory E. Deavens recently participated in a panel session during the Democratic Governors Association Fall Policy Conference.
The panel, “A Healthy Workforce: Utilizing Public-Private Partnerships to End the Healthcare Worker Shortage,” explored how collaboration between states and the private sector is developing a more skilled and equitable health care workforce to deliver efficient, high-quality care for all patients. Panelists also discussed the recent investments in the expansion and training of the next generation of health care professionals and the steps states can take to continue spearheading this effort.
“I think that achieving true health equity, where no one’s health depends on their race, their income, or their zip code, has to be our North Star. That challenge encompasses all the other challenges we can easily identify for health care – like access, cost, and our topic this morning, the need for a larger health care workforce that reflects the population it cares for,” said IBX CEO Deavens.
