Independence and ChenMed executives, Dedicated Senior Medical Center doctors, and city officials take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at a new location in Philadelphia.
Independence Blue Cross joined Dedicated Senior Medical Center (Dedicated) in celebrating the grand opening of its new Philadelphia location in Olney on Wednesday, September 19.
The new facility is the first Dedicated center to open in Philadelphia. Dedicated centers across the United States bring affordable VIP care and improved health outcomes to seniors through a model that offers industry-leading access to primary care physicians and specialists, including walk-in appointments.
Brian Lobley, president of Commercial and Consumer Markets, joined Christopher Chen, M.D., CEO of ChenMed, as they welcomed local dignitaries and more than 200 local senior citizens to the Olney location on Wednesday. Members of the community had an opportunity to meet the doctors, tour the center, and enjoy educational booths, food, games, and music. The North Philadelphia location hosted its celebration on Thursday, September 20.
In June, Dedicated announced a provider partnership with Independence Blue Cross across four centers in Philadelphia. Two more Dedicated locations will open in Mayfair and West Philadelphia in October.
Dedicated is a wholly owned subsidiary of ChenMed, where patients benefit from an average of 189 minutes of face-to-face time with their primary care physician annually, nine times higher than the national average. Extraordinary doctor-patient relationships are why ChenMed patients benefit from 34 percent fewer emergency room visits than averages reported for seniors by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
