PHILADELPHIA — On April 19, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) and Comcast announced a partnership to launch a newly branded, patient-centered technology and communications platform.
This morning, Independence President and CEO Daniel J. Hilferty expanded on the recently announced partnership with Comcast and discussed the insurer’s pivotal role in the intersection of health care and innovation at The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia’s “Converging for Care: Pioneering Digital Health” forum at WHYY. During the keynote and subsequent discussion, Hilferty shared how Independence is leading the conversation on health care cost and outcomes and creating non-traditional health care collaborations in the digital space.
Addressing more than 200 business leaders and health care providers from throughout the region, Hilferty offered his views on collaboration: “If you are part of this vibrant, creative Greater Philadelphia business community, you can help us lead a new era in health care. We need to give people knowledge and power to stay healthy, and to make the right choices about the care they need.”
Hilferty spoke about the company’s new partnership with Comcast saying, “We have the opportunity to connect Comcast’s leadership in media and technology — from broadband connectivity to content creation – with our leadership in care coordination and health innovation.”
A panel discussion followed the keynote and featured leaders from Accenture, Comcast NBCUniversal, Independence, Nemours Center for Health Delivery Innovation, and Rowan University:
- Dr. Ali Houshmand, President, Rowan University
