Greg Deavens, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross (IBX) and Chair of The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia Board of Directors, introduced Mayor Cherelle Parker at the Chamber’s annual Mayoral Luncheon.
In his introductory remarks, Deavens highlighted the importance of collaboration between business and civic leaders to address challenges such as aging infrastructure, gaps in education, and public safety. He emphasized the need for a modern, job-friendly tax structure that includes reduced business taxes and a lower wage tax to benefit the workforce.
“Mayor Parker’s success is Philadelphia’s success. And Philadelphia’s success is essential for the region and the Commonwealth,” said Deavens.
Nearly 2,000 executives, elected officials, business owners, and civic leaders attended the luncheon, which serves as the largest forum for the mayor to address the region’s business community and discuss the future.
