As families across the city prepare for a new school year, Independence Blue Cross (IBX) is reaffirming its commitment to education, health access and back-to-school readiness by supporting a series of initiatives designed to empower children and families across Philadelphia. Through partnerships with trusted community institutions, IBX is helping local children start the academic year healthy, confident and ready to learn.
This summer, IBX supported the School District of Philadelphia’s fifth annual Back-to-School Bus Tour, which provides school supplies, immunizations and registration materials at neighborhood stops throughout the city.
IBX, the Health and Wellness partner of the Please Touch Museum, is also proud to support the museum’s Ready-Set-School initiative, which provides free admission and programming to families during the Museum’s Community Days in the summer. The program’s focus on creativity, compassion, confidence and curiosity aims to build the academic and emotional foundations young learners need to thrive.
The Philadelphia School District Back-to-School Bus Tour and Please Touch Museum Ready-Set-School initiative also received support from the Independence Blue Cross Foundation, an independent grantmaking organization funded by contributions from IBX.
In addition to these summer initiatives, IBX provides year-round support to Cradles to Crayons, including its Ready for Learning program and annual Backpack-A-Thon. Through this partnership, volunteers from the IBX Blue Crew help assemble thousands of brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies and essential items, supporting local children in feeling prepared and excited for the school year.
