IBX collaborates with Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia to support youth mental health and well-being

Creativity, mindfulness, and physical activity can assist kids and teenagers in managing stress. Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) companies across the country are working with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to support mental health and well-being, supporting trauma-informed training of staff at more than 5,200 clubs. Each independent BCBSA plan is paired with a local club with the goal of strengthening the partnership through volunteerism.

Independence Blue Cross (IBX) is working with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, collaborating on volunteer efforts that offer creative outlets to help young people thrive. In the summer of 2024, IBX Blue Crew volunteers and Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia staff hosted a Field Day at the Germantown Club, featuring activities and crafts focused on mindfulness and well-being.

In this Know Your Mind campaign video, IBX Vice President of Community Affairs, Rev. Dr. Lorina Marshall Blake; IBX Director of Public Affairs, Courtney McDade; and Libby Lescalleet, Executive Vice President of Programs, Partnerships, and Development at Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia share why youth mental health support is important.

Know Your Mind was created in 2020 to educate the community about symptoms of depression and anxiety and offer resources to support mental health. Read more in this blog and visit ibx.com/knowyourmind.
