Independence Blue Cross (IBX) has confirmed that one of our service providers, Change Healthcare, is experiencing a network interruption related to a cybersecurity issue. Change Healthcare reported that it is working to investigate and address the matter, and IBX is closely monitoring this incident as it evolves.

IBX immediately took precautionary measures to disconnect our networks from Change Healthcare and secure our systems. We currently have no evidence of any impact to our network security because of this issue. Change Healthcare also reported that once they identified the issue, they immediately disconnected systems from external business partners to prevent additional impacts.

The security of our members’ personal information is a top priority. We want to reiterate that we have no evidence of any unauthorized access to data stored on our systems. IBX is also identifying necessary mitigation steps to help ensure minimal impacts to our services while the investigation is ongoing. As the situation develops, we will provide updates as soon as they are available.

Change Healthcare made an announcement on their anticipated restoration timeline: UnitedHealth Group Update on Change Healthcare Cyberattack – UnitedHealth Group.
