Susan Larkin speaks on Center City Business Association panel

Independence Blue Cross (IBX) hosted the Center City Business Association and its Women Changing the City panel discussion series on June 11. Women Changing the City features women in business offering their insights, stories, challenges, and triumphs.

IBX’s Susan Larkin, executive vice president of Core Commercial Markets, participated in the panel. Larkin was joined by Alaine K. Arnott, Ph.D., CEO of the National Liberty Museum; Christy Brady, city controller for the City of Philadelphia; and Nicole Allen White, chief operating officer of Welcome America. The panel was moderated by Bridgett Battles, CEO and founder of The Bridgett Battles Experience.

The panel addressed topics such as representation, rejection, and motivation.  Larkin spoke on the importance of recognizing your value, knowing your worth, and not being afraid to share it with others. She said that displaying your value may come with the challenge of reinventing yourself and your brand, but the real challenge is doing so without losing your authenticity.

When asked about her leadership style, Larkin shared that she believes in leading by example and letting your story be heard.  As she uses her position to share her story, Larkin hopes that others will do the same. Larkin said she strives to pave the way for future female leaders, leaving behind a legacy of empowerment and inspiration.

The Center City Business Association hosts a variety of panels, seminars, and social events in Philadelphia that give professionals the opportunity to network, educate themselves, and enhance their skills as a businessperson.
