Independence Blue Cross President and CEO Greg Deavens and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City President and CEO Erin Stucky have made a friendly bet on the outcome of Sunday’s big game. Both companies are rooting for their hometown teams, of course, but have agreed to a jersey swap. The losing CEO will wear the winner’s jersey and pose for photos to be shared on social media.
“For 85 years, we’ve been proud to call Philadelphia home. We’re extremely proud of the Philadelphia Eagles and the great city they represent! Independence, like the Eagles, are the hometown team and we’re excited to be cheering them on. There’s nothing like the excitement of a Super Bowl — and the friendly wager between our two Plans only adds to the fun. We look forward to seeing Erin in an Eagles jersey!” said Independence CEO Greg Deavens.

The Eagles celebrations are happening all week at Independence. On Wednesday, a group of associates joined Greg Deavens to record a resounding “Go Birds!” commercial to air on FOX 29. On Thursday, all associates were invited to a pep rally at Independence’s 1901 Market Street headquarters. Special guests included former All-Pro Eagle Tra Thomas, Mayor Jim Kenney, and the Quaker City String Band.
Independence is the Official Health Insurance Partner of the Philadelphia Eagles and the presenting sponsor of Eagles Training Camp.
