More than 31,0000 runners weathered a rainy and cool course for the 45th annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run held on May 5. Independence Blue Cross (IBX) has sponsored the race for 28 consecutive years.

Independence Blue Cross CEO Gregory E. Deavens spoke live with NBC-10 race anchor Erin Coleman before the race. Deavens also helped to start the race, joining Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Commissioner Susan Slawson.

IBX congratulates the winners, including Kevin McDonnell who finished first with a time of 47:32.32, and Amber Zimmerman, who finished first among women with a time of 52:51:16.

Miguel Jimenez Vergara won the men’s wheelchair division with a time of 33:13:20. Emilia Perry from Philadelphia won the women’s title for the wheelchair competitor.

For the second year, the race included a non-binary category. The winner was Winter Parts with a time of 52:38:10.

This year, more than 100 IBX associate runners participated in the race. IBX’s corporate running team, known as the Blue Streaks, is one of the largest in the City.

Congratulations to all participants!

IBX's Fuel Your Finish display developed with Our People Entertainment LLC featured hundreds of ribbons with words of encouragement from runners who attended the Expo on Friday and Saturday.
