Independence Blue Cross invites members to submit their stories of triumph and perseverance for a chance to win the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association 2018 Faces of Fearless℠ Award. The award winner receives a trip for four people to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in May 2018.

Now through Wednesday, February 28, members can go to to submit stories of how they took on a challenge to live a healthier life and how Independence helped them along the way.

As part of their award submission, members must:

  • Clearly describe the health challenge/obstacle faced.
  • Demonstrate how their challenge helped them accomplish overcoming other challenges to live a healthy life; manage a chronic illness or new diagnosis; or live fearless by learning and inspiring others.
  • Demonstrate how Independence impacted their efforts to face the challenge and explain how Blue Cross Blue Shield benefits or services were used to assist and give a sense of security.

Winners will be notified by March 27 and will be recognized during an awards presentation in Orlando on May 2.

Last year, Independence member Kimberly Lengel received the inaugural Faces of Fearless Award when her story of life with her daughter, Devon — who was born 16 weeks early and later diagnosed with both blindness and autism — was chosen from more than 100 national entries.

Note: Blue Cross Blue Shield employees or their family members are not eligible for this award.
