“Giving for Gold” was the theme of this year’s Independence Blue Cross Blue Crew Gives associate charitable giving campaign, which ran from September 9-27. 1,265 IBX associates donated and/or volunteered during the campaign. Associates gave nearly $550,000 to 700 nonprofit organizations. With matching gifts from IBX, contributions totaled over $1 million.
The campaign also featured Blue Crew Gives Back Days, the company’s signature volunteer opportunities. Blue Crew volunteers participated in a variety of projects, including inspecting, sorting, and packing essential items for children in need at Cradles to Crayons and preparing fields for the next planting season with the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society at Norristown Farm Park Harvest.
In all, 360 associates volunteered more than 1,000 hours at one or more of 25 Blue Crew Gives Back events that are making an impact on food insecurity, good health and well-being, children, seniors, and housing insecurity in our region.

Since its inception in 2001, the Blue Crew has invested hundreds of thousands of hours in initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods and uplift communities throughout the region. In 2023, Blue Crew members contributed over 6,200 volunteer hours to nonprofit organizations.
