Independence celebrates annual community giving and volunteer efforts Sept 12-29

Blue Crew Gives Back Days are one of Independence Blue Cross’s (Independence) signature volunteer opportunities. They are also the highlight of the company’s annual associate charitable donations campaign week, which runs September 12 – 29.

This year, Blue Crew volunteers participated in a variety of projects, including preparing and packaging meals at MANNA, serving lunch to guests at Broad Street Ministry, and doing some fall cleaning projects at Ronald McDonald House Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Zoo.

In all, more than 400 Independence Blue Cross associates volunteered their time at 15 nonprofit organizations that are making an impact on food insecurity, health and well-being, children, and seniors in our region.

Last year, Independence associates also contributed more than $650,000 to charities of their choice through Independence’s associate giving campaign.

Blue Crew Gives Back Days are part of Independence’s year-round commitment to volunteerism in southeastern Pennsylvania.
