Dr. Padula was elected by his peers and will serve a one-year term. As PCMS president and a patient and physician advocate, Dr. Padula seeks to strengthen PCMS’s role as a resource for all Philadelphia physicians and to address health care issues facing physicians and patients by strengthening the cooperation between PCMS and other stakeholders with shared goals.
Dr. Padula has been a member of PCMS and the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) since 1976. He has served on the PCMS board of directors and its executive board as chair of the Committee of Public Health, a member of the Reference Committee, and as president-elect. He has been a delegate to PAMED for 18 years, and PAMED’s delegate to the American Medical Society for 12 years. In 2012, he was awarded the Cristol Award for his valuable contributions to PCMS.
A fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in utilization review by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, Dr. Padula has experience in both the insurance industry and in private practice. In addition, he has also served as past president of the Centre County and Clinton County Medical Societies.
PCMS, a professional organization for physicians who live or work in Philadelphia, is affiliated with the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association. Founded in 1849, PCMS is one of the oldest medical societies in the Commonwealth.
