Independence President and CEO Dan Hilferty welcomes attendees to annual MedCity CONVERGE conference

Independence Blue Cross (Independence) President and CEO Daniel Hilferty welcomed attendees to the fifth annual MedCity CONVERGE conference in Philadelphia on July 12. The event, held at the Hyatt at the Bellevue, brings together cutting-edge organizations to discuss innovations in the health care industry. It was attended by more than 400 policymakers, entrepreneurs, and investors, as well as representatives from digital health, medtech, pharma, biotech, hospitals, and insurers.

CONVERGE’s major themes this year were data and analytics, direct-to-consumer business models, and genomics. In his opening remarks, Hilferty addressed how Independence is applying these themes to transform the health care system and improve the health and wellness of the people it serves.

In addition to Hilferty’s remarks, Independence’s chief medical officer Dr. Richard Snyder participated in a panel discussion about the economics of the growing genomics market.

Independence also supports Dreamit Health, which sponsored a kickoff reception at CONVERGE on July 11. The reception offered an exclusive first look at 15 breakthrough health technology startups from the 2016 Dreamit class.
