6ABC recognized each of the three winners of Independence Blue Cross’s (IBX) sixth annual Celebrate Caring campaign with in-depth segments on the station’s news broadcasts. The three Celebrate Caring winners were Jasmine Hudson, MSN, CRNP, AGACNP-BC of Penn Medicine; Allison Denman, MS, BSN, RN, SANE-A of Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions’ Philadelphia Sexual Assault Response Center; and Francis Doran, BSN, RN of Penn Medicine. Each of these health care professionals profoundly influence the communities they serve, reminding us why we need to celebrate the extraordinary nurses in our lives.
Hudson’s work addresses health inequities, risk-reduction, and treatment in the diabetes epidemic. She educates her patients and the community of West Philadelphia through outreach initiatives at farmer’s markets.
Denman’s leadership plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive care and evidence collection for sexual assault survivors. She also offers expert testimony in Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) care, advocating for inclusive, evidence-based practices.
In addition to Doran’s duties as an RN and full-time student, he is a dedicated volunteer with the Kensington Project. He provides supplies, support, and essential wound care to those experiencing homelessness and drug dependance in Kensington, Philadelphia.
