Independence Blue Cross (IBX) is now accepting applications for its 2026 Clinical Care Innovation Grants. The grants support innovative approaches to care delivery that can help improve the health and well-being of patients. Health systems and large specialty groups in the IBX network that have a value-based contract are encouraged to apply.
“These grants are a powerful investment in the future of health care,” said Dr. Rodrigo Cerdá, senior vice president of Health Services and chief medical officer at Independence Blue Cross. “Supporting solutions that improve affordability, efficiency, and access to care gives us a chance to help remove barriers and drive meaningful change. We are proud to support the next wave of innovators who are reimagining what’s possible for our members, and I can’t wait to see how they turn today’s challenges into tomorrow’s solutions.”
Those applying for a grant should submit ideas that focus on:
- Clinical approaches that enhance quality of care, patient and provider experience, patient cost, and equitable whole-person health.
- Patient-centered strategies that include behavioral health strategies and improve health equity.
- New technological or virtual care models not implemented elsewhere, including those that bring care into the home.
Up to five grants will be awarded for 2026. With an average of $200,000 per grant. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on September 25, 2025. Each entity is permitted up to three submissions. Each will be evaluated by an IBX review committee. Providers whose submissions are accepted will be invited to present their ideas at IBX on November 20, 2025. Winners will be notified by November 21, 2025.
