Independence Blue Cross (Independence) President and CEO Gregory E. Deavens and Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Markets Stephen P. Fera were included in City & State PA’s Pennsylvania Power 100 list. The list includes public officials as well as business leaders, advocates, and other notable leaders.
Deavens is committed to advancing equitable, whole-person health, which includes integrating physical and behavioral health and reducing racial and economic health disparities. City & State PA noted that under Deavens’ guidance, Independence recently collaborated with Penn Medicine and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to establish the Advanced Network for Gene-Based Therapeutics.
Fera brings a community-oriented approach to his work linking health care, public policy, and social impact. Through collaborative partnerships and innovative programs — as well as his leadership of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation—he works to expand access to care and improve lives.
Deavens has previously been included in the Pennsylvania Power 100 list in 2021 and 2022. Fera was also included in the 2022 list.
The Pennsylvania Power 100 list appeared in the April 24, 2023, issue of the magazine.
