City & State PA named Independence Blue Cross (Independence) Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer Crystal Ashby to its 2022 Impact 50 list. Ashby is ranked № 1.

The Impact 50 list identifies Pennsylvanians who “exemplifies the optimism and idealism…needed to help the state and its citizen persevere through challenges like the pandemic, community crises, and political factionalism.”

The magazine recognized Ashby as a leader who is making a positive impact and guiding Pennsylvania through tumultuous changes. Ashby leads Independence’s Human Resources Division where she helps the organization attract and develop talent; advance a culture of engagement, inclusion, and innovation; and achieve business strategy and goals. Ashby oversaw public affairs at BP for many years and most recently before joining Independence, she was the interim president and CEO at The Executive Leadership Council where she led initiatives to increase Black C-suite representation.

The list is published in the December 12, 2022, issue of the magazine.

Earlier this year, Diversity Woman Media included Ashby in its Class of 2022 Elite 100 list and Savoy Magazine recognized her in its 2022 class of most influential Black executives in America. In 2021, the National Diversity Council recognized Ashby as one of the nation’s Top 100 HR Professionals.
