Daniel J. Hilferty shares insight on organization’s Human-Centered InnovationSM

Philadelphia, PAIndependence Blue Cross (Independence) President and CEO Daniel J. Hilferty spoke on a panel yesterday at the Health Evolution Summit in Dana Point, California, an annual invitation-only event that brought together 500 prominent business leaders from health care services, IT, and life science sectors to discuss critical issues facing the health care industry.

As part of a panel titled “Payer Connect: Where payer and innovative CEOs meet,” Hilferty talked about Human-Centered InnovationSM, which he described as Independence’s “commitment to putting members at the center of everything we do with the goal to change for the better the lives and health of people in our region and throughout the nation.”

Hilferty pointed out that Human-Centered Innovation at Independence inspires the organization’s collaborations with medical researchers and health care startups to imagine, create, and support the most promising technologies for making people healthier. It shapes Independence’s partnerships with doctors and hospitals to introduce new models of care that emphasize the quality of care, not the quantity.

Hilferty was joined on the panel by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska President and CEO Steve Martin and moderator EDG Partners Co-Founder and Managing Director Mike Gaffney.

The Health Evolution Summit, an event where leading executives, innovators, policymakers, and investors convene to shape the future of health, is hosted by Health Evolution Partners, an investment firm based in San Francisco that works with growing middle market companies in the health care industry.
