Independence CEO co-authors Forbes Op-Ed advocating common-sense solutions for ACA marketplace

On September 23, Forbes published an Op-Ed co-authored by Daniel J. Hilferty, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross and chairman of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) Board of Directors, and Scott P. Serota, president and CEO of the BCBSA, a national federation of 36 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies.

In the post titled “Creating an Affordable and Sustainable Insurance Marketplace,” Hilferty and Serota outline the current problems affecting the Affordable Care Act’s individual consumer marketplace and offer solutions to ensure an affordable, competitive market. The piece also advocates the importance of continuing to drive changes that improve the quality of care and rein in costs.
